All You Need To Know About Horses

Horses generally travel in herds as they are herd animals. Each herd has a herd leader whom the herd follows for their food and safety. This characteristic of a horse to move in herds allows human rider to assume the place of herd leader and make him work under his commands. A horse rider can make a horse learn and follow its instructions tough it takes a strict rigorous training. But once trainedthe horse becomes an obedient creature and can be ridden upon easily.

Horses have been domestic animals and have been of domestic help since ages. The method of training as well as breeding the horse also comes since the ancient times.
The herd consists of female horses also known as mares, immature horses and a few male horses know as stallions. The herd leader is known as the alpha mare.

A horse can walk in four different ways. They are: walk, trot, canter or gallop.
If the horse walks with one of his four legs in air at any given time then such a style of walking is known as horse walk. It is the simplest form of walks in horses. When they are trained they are taught to understand subtle signs like releasing or pulling the reins and squeezing its sides.

When one of his foreleg and the opposite hind leg simultaneously touches the ground then the horse is trotting. A horse may trot in many different ways.
When the horse's foreleg and opposite hind leg touches the ground simultaneously and the other two legs work in isolation then it is known as canter or lope.
Galloping is the way horses run while in a race with two paired legs propelling itself forward in full force.

Thoroughbred horses came into existence during the early 18th century in England. There were created by breeding mares with imported Arabian stallions. The breed that came into existence due to this cross breed is very well known for running for long distance. They are known for their fast running abilities too.
